Our Impact
At Silson Trust, our goal is simple: to grow our asset base so we can increase the funds available for grants.
Every strategic decision we make is guided by one question…
How can we strengthen our ability to support those we serve?
We are pleased to share an important step forward in that journey.
Our Ōrewa property currently includes four rental units. In the coming months, we are expanding the site by adding two additional units, bringing the total to six. This development represents a significant milestone in strengthening the Trust’s long-term sustainability and increasing future grant distributions.
Reaching this point has required careful planning and perseverance. We are now nearing the building stage of this project and are excited about what lies ahead.
While the Trust has some funds available, a bank loan will be required to complete the project unless additional legacy gifts are received.
Our current plan is to allocate the rental income from one unit toward meeting mortgage repayments.
However, reducing the loan burden would significantly increase the income available for grants. A legacy gift toward this development would directly lower repayment commitments and free up more rental income to support the purposes of the Trust.
Impact from grants:
Grant requested for a leadership program
This grant support was sought for a two-day leadership intensive program designed to equip emerging young women in ministry within the Assemblies of God in New Zealand. The program provided practical training, spiritual encouragement, and mentorship.
Feedback we got from an attendee:
“I think these events are really good to work on the call, to work on our identity – and in the safe space of being with other women..I really do believe it’s a process and there are layers to it and each time God wants to go another layer deeper. No matter if women are struggling with the call, or struggling with the demands and reality of the call they responded to, a weekend like this gives valuable time out of the normal to work through things with God, to go deeper, to reflect, to heal, to cry and laugh, and also to realize there are others struggling and you are not alone. Also it’s a valuable chance to have others cheering you on and sharing wisdom and support with you, especially with the older ladies present. It is formation building, identity confirming, call strengthening, faith challenging and growing as well as refining, removing hindrances and healing hurts. Keep on doing these”
